Dr. Preksha Rani Modi was an outstanding student of St. George’s School Hyderabad and achieved the highest marks in the ICSE board examination of 2006. She pursued her MBBS at Osmania Medical College and completed her MS in General Surgery at Gandhi Medical College, both esteemed tertiary care government hospitals in Telangana, earning a gold medal in her postgraduate examination. During her surgical training, she developed a strong passion for trauma care, leading her to pursue an MCh in Trauma Surgery and Critical Care at AIIMS, New Delhi. Her training took place at Jai Prakash Narayana Apex Trauma Centre (JPNATC), India’s first Level 1 Trauma Centre, which handles approximately 60,000 trauma patients annually.
She is highly skilled in managing polytrauma patients, from emergency resuscitation to life- and limb-saving surgeries, and their critical care management followed by rehabilitation. With experience in around 1,000 cases, she has expertise in treating various trauma conditions, including cardiothoracic, abdominal (with abdomino-vascular), genito-urinary, maxillofacial, peripheral vascular, and soft tissue injuries. Her particular interest in thorax led her to further refine her skills in managing thoracic surgical cases and is trained in both VATS (minimally invasive) and thoracotomy techniques. She honed her expertise under the mentorship of renowned thoracic surgeon Dr. Sabyasachi Bal at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Delhi.
